Enquiry Machines (EM)

Enquiry Machines are collaborative experiments in design thinking and critical making. We make things to make sense of things.

EMs:
– materialise the enquiry process
Рare not prototypes or models but rather instruments of enquiry designed to help explore social worlds
– exaggerate hands-on, messy, inventive material and performative engagement
– materialise socio-material process by which knowledge is created, offering news lenses in theory and method. EMs do not present cleaned up or polished results. They render visible the processes, limitations and mechanics of enquiry.

This means they fail, and often. To reveal the mechanics of enquiry is itself an outcome that an enquiry machine produces.
