Mobilities workshop

Justin Spinney, Rachel Aldred and I ran a mobile Mobilities workshop on 7th December 2011. Rather than talking about mobile subject matter in one place, we asked speakers and participants to enfold the city in their responses and present on the move. There were 10 speakers and 25 participants and the event took the form of two excursions. An overview of the day is here.

Cities are shaped by, and give shape to, the movement of people, technologies, things and ideas. They are composed of dynamic entanglements of humans and non-humans, (re)produced and contested on a daily basis. Building upon the work of University of East London’s Sustainable Mobilities Research Group, the workshop sought to examine and enliven some of these entanglements.
