Research linings

Part of the Bikes & Bloomers project involved collaborating with Alice Angus, a fantastic artist, who brought to life some of the stories that emerged in our research in her drawings/collage.

She worked with us in the office/studio to interpret our archival research, discussion and methodological practice into her artwork.

These drawings/collage were digitally printed onto silk and sewn into the costumes.

They are revealed when the costumes are converted from conventional dress into inventive cycle wear.

As a result the costumes become multi-layered multi-dimensional story telling devices.
